Listen to the call here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLHCuzW3-uA
He's so articulate.
So creepy hearing his voice, fuck this dude
I've listened to this call so many times, but I'll gladly listen to it again, haha.
And him analyzing his speech like that is very strange to me. I don't think I'd ever pay that much attention to my speech patterns, voice, etc. Talk about over-analyzing.
He wanted to seem super articulate
He’s really articulate in that clip and the argument he makes is really interesting, to take that story of the chimp and turn it into an analogy for modern senseless violence (and in which I think he’s also talking about himself). You could tell he’s intelligent to be able to make those connections. The fact that he was interested in the subject of anarchy and anti-civilization and see mass murder through that lens is pretty insightful.
Combined with his knowledge about mass murders and reflection on this topic, I think of Adam Lanza as like the end culmination or pinnacle of mass murder as a phenomenon. Like his act itself was the ultimate expression of mass murder, if that makes sense.
I’m sure he had other motivations and maybe related to the chimp, but I feel like he’s the first person to commit a mass murder as a distillation of the phenomenon itself, which is why it makes so little sense on the surface to kill children in that way, but makes perfect sense in the non-logic of mass murder today. He even says “the mainstream can’t comprehend” these acts. To me Lanza is the simplest expression of mass murder for the sake of doing it alone, almost like he wanted it to be a metaphor or something.
Or maybe that’s just how I see him.
That's the gist I get as well. He was obsessed with mass shootings/violence/death/suicide, and wanted to commit the mass shooting of all mass shootings, and used Travis as a metaphor/allegory
I got the same feeling When I first heard his Travis story on the radio.
He’s so smart and articulate. With the proper attention and treatment he could have worked through his mental illness and became something instead of the monster he ended up being.
This is in NO way a sympathy post for him though, just general observation.
I’ve noticed with a lot of these types of school shooters especially but with many other mass killers killing on behalf of women/the world failing them - they’re always wildly insecure but even weirder they’re obsessed with the most minute details about themselves and fixate on them. And they think the rest of the world also fixates on them. To think there are so many people out there with this anger and pain and fixation on their flaws that 99% of the world would never notice just makes me SAD.
